The prices are very reasonable. Postage seems to be a standard six quid so for one pot it's a bit expensive but I have several projects waiting so it made sense to order them together.

I have found this ebay supplier to be a useful source of vintage electronic parts.

They sell a range, but with a strong bias towards glass components.
Nixie tubes, many types.
VFD displays.
Magic eye indicators, several types.
Neon lamps, numerous types, including b22 nightlight types.
Some specialist gas discharge lamps, including 28volt mercury lamps.
A few types of valves but not primarily a valve dealer.

I recently needed 'hard to find' spares for a Grundig Satellit 650 radio and found them at radio-antik a German based supplier. It seems Helmut breaks down radios and sells off the parts. His list is amazing. It's largely 'modern' German and other European radios. He does not understand English too well so best to use Google translate to email him in German. You can also translate the whole site by using Google translate, just plonk the web site address into the translater and it provides the address of a translated version. Also, he does not have an online ordering system as such, you choose the parts you want from his excellently presented lists and then email him and he gives you his bank details to make a bank transfer. My parts just arrived, took just over a week, well packed and as described. From my experience, well recommended.

Re my earlier post, #101, the supplier sells B22 mains voltage neon lamps that are hard to find elsewhere. An odd size, smaller than a GLS lamp but larger than a golf ball type and much larger than a pigmy lamp.

They also sell a rare type of 8 segment display in which each segment consists of an incandescent filament. Much brighter than first generation LED displays. Obsolete now of course.

And several types of miniature CRT.

I've only looked at resistor prices( .25w), which seem keen. But also , they have a selection of 1/8w resistors and again the prices are keen= from what I've orders it's 20p for ten of the values they stock. Postage is normal at £2 .

Some portable electronic equipment - amateur radio gear for example - uses sealed lead acid batteries. The local woodturning Club of which I'm Secretary uses a portable PA amplifier with integral speaker, powered from a sealed lead acid battery, with an integral battery charger.

Due to lockdown, the last time the PA system was used until Tuesday evening this week - the relaunch of the Club after 20 months of closure - was February 2020. Though the battery had been recharged, it didn't hold its charge, (unsurprisingly perhaps, given that it was 13 years old), so the PA system failed to work.

The dimensions of the 12V 2.9 AH battery are such that I could only find two UK suppliers, one of whom was 'Battery Trader', who supply SLA and other types of rechargeable batteries for everything from cordless power tools to mobility scooters, cameras, motorbikes and intruder alarms.

I ordered the SLA battery we needed at 11.30am yesterday. Within minutes I received an email saying it had been despatched via DPD, then an update from DPD saying it would be delivered today between 11.30am and 12.30pm as indeed it was, securely packed, within 24 hours.

I thought they deserved a mention, given that they supply such a wide range of rechargeable batteries and based on my experience, give as fast a turn around of orders as we could wish for. The PA system is now back in use.

No connection with them, other than as a satisfied customer.

Bitsbox have been mentioned in other parts of the forum (not sure about this one as could not get search to work properly).
I have used them a number of times for misc electronic bits as they charge a fixed £1.90 postage.
I ordered online at 4pm yesterday and the jiffy bag arrived at noon today.

Bought a set of NOS valves [CV numbered] for my R209 from PM Components:

Am satisfied - havent worked out the actual manufacturers from the Military letter-codes yet, but the valves work just fine.

Looking for potentiometers, I was pointed to Antique Electronic Supply in the USA. Their website is: https://www.tubesandmore.com. It is very comprehensive and clearly laid out. I wonder if others have used them from the UK?

Going through this thread, I notice that couple of of recommended suppliers no longer have active websites, suggesting that they have closed. Mods, is it worth deleting the earlier Bardwells entry?

I have used them and bought NOS valves from them. Bought before the changes in import duties/VAT etc.

Agree about the website - well laid out, easy to find. Also got good delivery and no hassle.
