I've found a thread from 2007 on this site where the Installation Manual was posted. Unfortunately, two pages are missing and the poster seems to be no longer active.
Does anyone have a scan or copy of pages 25 and 28 they could let me have please ? They contain Figures 2 and 5 from the manual, needed to assist with component location. Many thanks, in advance. Mike |

Hi Mike
Just looked at my manual, and obviously came from the same source, as the same pages are missing .What's the fault? Maybe someone can help anyway? Pop a request it the test eqt section. I found a couple of the small blue electrolytics to have changed in value.

Hi everyone,
I thought that I would try just once more to ask if anyone has a complete copy of the DMM2 Service Manual. I need to find out the re-calibration procedure and I'm having no luck in finding the information anywhere. My DMM2 came with the matching BP2 battery pack. Again, I have found no documentation from the usual sources, but I have reverse engineered the unit to produce a schematic if it would be helpful to anyone. Mike |

The calibration on digital equipment is very straightforward, and usually entails solely setting the initial DC range (2V). The rest then follows. I have the complete manual for the later model DMM3. Advance seemed to introduce a new model almost every year with cosmetic changes, as a marketing ploy. I think you will find the calibration procedure the same. So I attach the relevant pages. ( or almost single page, as it is so straightforward.) Also the circuit diagram, so that you can reassure yourself, and find the particular pre-set that needs tweeking by comparison, and also what is probably your missing diagrams 2 & 5, and the Battery Pack diagram. Please let us know how close this is to what you want, and whether it is useful. Bill

Alan and Bill,
Many thanks for your help, both of you. I have just received an original complete DMM2 manual from Alan's first lead (Crowthorne Tubes) and it also includes the BP2 Battery Pack and the SP2 Shunt Pack. For interest, the DMM3, at first glance, seems to be a little more than just a cosmetic improvement. The circuit diagram has been completely redrawn and includes some circuitry differences that I haven't yet closely inspected. OTOH, the BP3 does seem identical to the BP2 - even the PCB has the same Part No. In my manual, Section 5.3 gives a 16-step recalibration procedure and refers to the (hitherto missing, and the reason for this post) Figures 5 and 6 for component locations. All is now very clear so many thanks once again, Mike |

I have the same copy of the DMM2 manual with the missing pages. Would it be possible please for you to scan and send me a copy of the missing pages as you now have the complete one. I am reassured that my guess about the DMM3 being similar appears correct. Bill

I have just done a 10 page search on Google for Advance DMM2 and your link did not show up. That is a pity. Personally I would make that kind of information more publicly available. Only my own opinion though.

Woodchips: The file is too big to attach to a post in this thread so I've put it on OneDrive — which used to be called SkyDrive. It downloads as a normal PDF for me.

If you go to the link in post #9, it shows "DOWNLOAD" top LHS.
I have posted it on Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pq2kz5ll2u7yigm/Advance%20DMM2.pdf?dl=0 |
