Split from this thread:-
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/showthread.php?t=60832 I really needs to reach one member of the forum about the modification he told that he has done to his Fostex E8. I'm a new member and thread is already close so I can't comment to thread or to member privately. So this is my first comment. So I would like to thank this forum to existing so I would probably find a way to modify my E8. |

The OP has been in contact - the remark in question is actually this one
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/showpost.php?p=1354598&postcount=20 where I mentioned that it is possible to set the Fostex E series machines to run at any speed from 3.75ips up to 30ips. This is done by both changing the jumpers on the capstan motor control board and also, for the slower speeds, pulling the Speed control signal down to 0V. The E8 and E16 don't allow you to change the eq for different speeds so you are stuck with the eq settings that the machine was originally supplied with (normally 15ips IEC although I think some may have been supplied to run at 30ips). Of course, if you predominantly work at one speed then you can modify the rec/playback electronics. The E2 and E22 brought the Speed control signal to a front panel switch and the rec/playback electronics could switch between the appropriate eq for the factory supplied speeds. |
