https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/showthread.php?t=119339 Hi, new member here so forgive me if this has been covered before. I have a Bush SRP64 player, its a 1970's transistorr amp model and I am having difficulty navigating the various and often conflicting info regarding cartridges. It's a BSR C129 turntable, originally fitted with a Sonotone 2509 cartridge but replaced by a previous owner with a BSR X5M mono cart. I would like to change this for a stereo cartridge but that's where the confusion begins. The X5M output seems to be 400mV although some sources give various other values and I believe the original S 2509 output was 340mV so I'm assuming a stereo cart of similar output would suit assuming it fit physically in the head. I've seen some cartridges that are deemed compatible with a C129R table - is this very different from my C129? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

Unless you plan to use this player with the add on stereo speaker, there is little point changing the cart. Your x5m is mono but plays stereo discs without harm. The small difference in output is irrelevant in practice. If you need stereo, use a banpa or chuo denshi clone or an sc12h.
