Default BTTT: Radios for Charity

Due to a very large, kind donation from Tony Fell, the Broadcast Television Technology Trust has a lot of items to dispose of for our much needed funds.

Collection much preferred for all items, but post smaller radios by arrangement. Old tech does not travel well by courier! All sold as seen.

All offers by PM. All payments by cheque or bank transfer to the charity account. Please be generous,

Those who collect will be allowed to rummage the as-yet un-advertised items (a room full) and buy what they want if the offer is appropriate.
it must all go...

Check out the restoration of MCR21 at www.mcr21.org.uk.

Another offering - very interesting.

11. An exquisitely made replica 1920s radio, to the design published in May 1980 Practical Wireless by Robert Thornton. All period components, in a beautifully made Woden slope cabinet. Reported working well, with a note from the builder and a copy of the article. Set of good valves. Broken skirt on tuning knob.

And one for fans of more recent, quality equipment

12. Panasonic SG-5000 Record, tape, radio console. Lovely condition except clean crack in lid and no head shell. Very heavy, with a nice direct-drive turntable. Has been carefully stored.

Haha Jeremy when you take picture with your iPhone you need to stand on your head

Perhaps the Mods could spin them around?

If only I wasn't down sizing

That 834A is a cracking set ISTR that Gerry Wells used to refer to the 830 and the 834 as Spam tin specials.

Cheers

Either that or you have an extreme gravity error issue

Brian Summers, Trust chairman of BTTT also runs the virtual TV Camera Museum - https://www.tvcameramuseum.org/ .
The BTTT was set up to restore MCR21, a 1963 BBC outside broadcast vehicle. Www.mcr21.org.uk. When that restoration is complete the truck will hopefully go on display in a series of museums, and be used to help with education on the history of broadcasting. With streaming becoming so prevalent, broadcasting as such may become something of a lost art and it’s history will be of significant interest.

In response to a number of enquiries, yes, this set does have an original back in very good condition. Photo attached. I took the back off to photo the inside.

Just to let everyone know,

I have retracted all my bids on the 834a, laserdisc player and the replica radio as the auction end date has been extended as it appears that the end date/time is totally flexible and if new bids are received then it will extend again.

We do NOT allow items to be auctioned here, whether for charity or not. We do not require a fixed price on items to be sold for charity, so that people may make fair offers. However this thread is clearly stretching things too far.

Thread closed.

If you wish to make an offer for any of the items please PM Jeremy, however must not be handled as an auction by PM either.
