Default HMV 2126 radio

Does anyone have any information on the HMV 2126 radio? I can’t find anything on the internet. It’s probably the same as a Marconi model, but I can’t find it. I’ve attached a photo, any recognise it?

Tony

Is that the correct model number? All I can find for HMV 2126 is a record player, many years older than your radio.

The model number is consistent with HMV branded Thorn manufactured equipment, ie the 2nd digit 1 signifies radio receivers. Radios are not my thing but I suspect it may be a close relative to the Ferguson 3124 Auto Twin. One of the buttons appears to be marked CAR?

John.

Yes, definitely a 2126, the model number is inside the battery compartment and I also have the original box that confirms it's a model 2126.

I also found most google links are for the record player you mentioned. I did find this though

Yes, it is one of those sets that could be used in the car, thanks for the Ferguson idea.

I'm afraid I'm wrong about the 3124 as it appears to be AM only according to Radiomusem whereas the HMV includes VHF/FM.

Looking through the service information available on this site the 2124 and 2130 appear to be similar inside, I wonder if 2124,2126 and 2130 were mainly cabinet differences.
Attached layout of the switches and controls of the 2124.

I think you're spot on Frank, especially as it has a LUX button.
Wish I still had my RTVS red books.

John.

I have the DVD supplied by Paul, the enjoyment I have had out of it has been enormous, waiting for the new one hopefully later in 2019.

After another look the 2124, the circuit does not have VHF although shown in the layout diagram I posted, the 2130 does have VHF and the layout is the same as shown in the earlier post. I can only think the R&TV have put the wrong layout in the 2124.

Have you a problem with the radio, if so a photo of the chassis and some transistor types may confirm matters.

The transistor line up of the 2130 is
IF Board 1 AF115
2 AF116

AM LO AF117

VHF AF124
AF125

Audio AC155 or OC71
AC113 or OC81D
2 AC154 or OC81

And looks very similar PCB's to your radio, perhaps worth £1.99 to confirm.

I cant really post anymore, the sales of the data helps keep this forum on line.
