Default What type of BSR deck is this?

Hi guys,

Can anyone help identify this BSR?

Also can you suggest a replacement stylus/cartridge.

New to the game.

Matt

I can't give you the model number of the the deck offhand, but the stylus needed will depend on which cartridge is fitted. From what I can see on your photo, it looks like a BSR, so the number of the stylus will be stamped on the white flag that sticks out of the cartridge. Something beginning with ST... If the stylus is missing, then somewhere on the cartridge body there will be a number, probably starting with SX. You may have to carefully unclip the cartridge from its' bracket to find the number, as it may be on the top, where you can't see it. However, before buying a new stylus, make sure the cartridge is still working. Turn the volume right up, and gently stroke the stylus tip, or if it's missing, then stroke the little rubber "ears" that stick out of the bottom of the cartridge. You should hear a loud noise through the speakers. If you don't, then the cartridge has packed up, and will have to be replaced. If you do hear the noise, then simply go to any of the stylus suppliers online, and order one for the relevent cartridge

That's a C123R. Stylus ST16/17/20/21.

Be careful not to force the platter round if is is stuck. Is it?

Not sure of the deck model number but the ones ive had in the past with that tone arm and head shell have all been fitted with a SC12M cartridge. medium output ceramic type cartridge. Usually these are not at fault. what are the problems you are having with this machine?
