Default Garrard SP25 MK.II deck problems.

Thanks for identifying my SP25 MK.II deck.

It's symptoms before it got put in the loft was that the needle, tried new ones, got stuck towards the end of the record.

Any suggestions as to what to do with it and the matching loudspeakers with their specific and limited impedance value.

Thanks in anticipation.

If it's got speakers it will be a record player rather than a deck. What is the make and model?

The 'getting stuck towards the end of the record' issue sounds like the usual Garrard Grease Syndrome on the main camwheel.

Take the large cog under the turntable off, and remove the little brass coloured trip pawl attached to the cog, noting how it is fitted. Thoroughly clean the parts of old grease, and reassemble, but don't oil or grease any part of it. Operation depends of friction alone, and lubrication will make it stick again.

You may find it difficult removing the cog and the brass trip pawl. If that's the case, don't try and force it, heat it up with a hairdryer and lever it up without rotating it. Do the same carefully with the trip pawl.

Automatic trip repair on Garrard Autoslim-chassis units of which the SP25 Mk II is one:

Bush SRP51 Garrard 3500 autochanger

Go to Post No. 3 for instructions and a diagram.

There should be a way to make this post a sticky!
