Post Hitachi SDT 400 cassette drive belts

Hi, I wondered if anyone could help, please? i recently bought one of the above in need of some loving care, and as a result have bought new stylus, t/t drive belt, tape drive belts and plenty Servisol! All the original belts have perished, so there's lots of cleaning to do. My issue is that, on the tape deck, one of the 2 belts had degraded so much it was no longer attached, and as this is my first attempt at refurb, I've no clear idea of where the replacements should be fitted.
I can post a photo a little later of the area, so if anyone can help I'd be grateful.

This is a nostalgia-fest for me, as I used to sell these back in 1979/80, when i first started work, but could never afford to buy one! I had to settle for something lower in the line-up. Now I'd like to get this up and going again.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Post #16 in this thread may help:-

https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=131644

Looks to me like the belt from the brass motor pulley to the double grooved?? plastic pulley is missing.

Faced with a similar problem with a Philips deck I worked things out by trial and error using a generic pack of belts from eBay.

Thanks Graham, I've got a mixed pack, I'll see how we go. That's the same belt that has disintegrated on mine.
