Marantz CP430
Managed to get hold of one of these, should be on the way, hoping it arrives before the end of the week!
Hopefully it'll be free from any issues (all in good working order apparently) but it has no power lead. Does anybody know if it uses a specific adapter or will a bog standard one do? Info is a bit sketchy on the net but i think it's 4.5v/500mA, not 100% sure though. I wouldn't mind another of these (or a similar 3 head device) for a project, or just for spare parts. A couple of metal or chrome tapes might be useful too if anyone has a few for sale, let me know! |

Re: Marantz CP430
I have an original marantz power supply for one of these I think I will dig it out and see what it says.

Re: Marantz CP430
The polarity of the 2.1mm (?) plug is shown on the case - I use a standard 4.5v Maplin transformer with reversible plugs and she works fine.

Re: Marantz CP430
Perfect, thanks gentlemen. I'll wait until I can confirm the polarity when it arrives, not far from Maplin. might even have one in a drawer already come to think of it...

Re: Marantz CP430
Once I was asked to assess about 10 such machines, all from a law enforcement department. Every one of them had damaged electronics, I suspect because staff had just powered them with the nearest available power supply (wall wart) and cooked the electronics. In the carboard box with the machines was a random assortment of power supplies, none of which was the recommended type!
I've come across other similar Marantz machines, and most seemed to have been damaged in a similar way. The average Joe out there seems to assume that if the external power supply plug "fits" then all will be well. |

Re: Marantz CP430
Thanks Gary, I've had a search around but there doesn't seem to be many 4.8v available
Do you still have your unit or are you selling? Cheers Lee |
