Microphone plug type?
Could anyone tell me what this type of plug is called? I need a couple of these to plug a mike and a line input into the Walter 303. The plug was also used as the speaker connector on the Mark 1 Pye Black Box, and I've seen them used as internal connectors elsewhere. The pin spacing is different from the XLR and McMurdo three pin plugs.

Re: Microphone plug type?
It's a 3 pole HT battery plug, normally used for UK valve portable radios. They may have been made by Clix or Cinch (Carr Fastener Co.) but I can't be sure about that.
It's the sort of thing that can be found in junk boxes, amateur radio rallies or even the frame aerial of the Double Decca 46, which has two. Ron Last edited by ronbryan; 14th Dec 2012 at 11:08 am. |

There's a mic for sale on a well known auction site that's fitted with that exact plug !

Re: Microphone plug type?
That PLUG! I don't know the name of it, but here in the USA voice of music, Akai, and a few other companies used these inside their reel to reel machines for connecting the heads to the electronics. I have one of these plugs that was on a Grampian microphone actually. They are still easy to get however, the 3 pin version was used inside Brennel reel to reel machines to connect the deck with the power supply, they used 2 3 pin connectors, one with even odder slimmer spacing.
In fact the microphone in that picture is Grampian!! -Chris |

Re: Microphone plug type?
That four-pin mike plug looks like it has the same pin spacing as the McMurdo B4-CP. I've got a McMurdo three-pin but it's derived from the four-pin with its uneven spacing.
I'll post a description of the missing plug in the wanted section. |
