Re: Identification of 1950s portable please
That's a new one on me the knobs look like PYE the look close to those used on the P114BQ
Its clearly not PYE though so I'm guess its a set offered from the magazine pages. Its hard to see in the pictures if there's a BP on the Badge or RP? Cheers Mike T

Looks homemade to me. The bent aluminium chassis and the wood frame around the top isn’t the sort of thing that a manufacturer would use. Possibly from a kit by a component supplier.

I was also thinking it might be a kit.

And the board haphazardly drilled with a few hundred holes... even kit suppliers would hardly have produced that, I'm thinking somoene's version of a magazine project.

Let's not be too sure it's a kit I've seen worse I own seven Jewel Radios ! The case is a bit good it's actually finished to a better standard than most 50s portables.

Pretty sure I remember empty cases for this type of set being offered by several Practical Wireless advertisers, fully finished with no contents, left over from some manufacturer's production run.

The quality of the case was what made me think 'kit' rather than 'homebrew'. The innards do look rather rough and ready.
