I forgot about the battery retainer. It is now back in the radio. It was given a quick coat of dark wood dye.

I'm quite happy with the result and the radio performs really well. I was looking forward to trouble shooting the modules but the radio worked without any trouble. The modules do look like they have been worked on in the past. There is a service tag marked 1984. I don't know when this radio was manufactured; the only clue is the serial number '5506'.

I'll certainly keep an eye out for another!
