BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
We return to Biggleswade on March 12th. A fine new venue to replace the late Harpenden Halls.
Please note the different format for the March show, with no auction, but a huge BVWS table of stores items instead. Chairman Greg explains it all in the forthcoming Bulletin, but here is a precis: Our popular on-line auctions will continue to run when we can fit them in between our regular events. Mike, our Auctions Agent is running another starting on 3rd February. Mike needs time to prepare, including listing, photographing and uploading to the auction site and dealing with the payments and regional delivery arrangements after the items have been sold. Consequently, the March meeting at Biggleswade will not have an auction. There will however be a large van load of items from the stores and they will be sold at very attractive prices from the BVWS tables in front of the stage – there will be many bargains to be had, during the longer table sale period. The AGM will run in a side room between 12pm -1pm. There will be an auction at the Autumn Biggleswade Meet. I hope to see lots of you at the Meet in March. More details will follow as the date approaches. -Jeremy

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
Hi Jeremy
Will this sale be open to "all" and not just members, not the door but buying? If so, and in light of other discussions about attracting new blood, perhaps it could be advertised "locally" (eg Biggleswade Chronicle https://www.biggleswadetoday.co.uk/ - they have a "things to do" page), I think they would highlight the event for free if fed the right information Also within the school to attract some youngsters Fred an Old Strattonian! |

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
As always, we welcome guests, usually invited by a member. All we ask is that guests consider becoming members if they visit events more than a few times. This is a BVWS-organised event, one of the benefits of membership, and so is not specifically set up to maximise profit, or public attendance. The items on the BVWS "stores" stall would otherwise be sold via private BVWS auction.
But we would love any potential BVWS members to come along, buy some nice bits, and see what we are all about! The large BVWS RetrotechUK show on May 21st is a full public show, which is broadly advertised. -Jeremy

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
Stall bookings have started to come in nicely. If you fancy a stall, we will have quite a few more available than in September, so the more the merrier. At just £10 more than your normal entry fee, it's a great opportunity to get rid of surplus items. The stall order form was in the Winter Bulletin. Or contact me via email and I can send you a booking form electronically.
Non-auction events tend to wind up by about 2pm, which gives sellers a bit more time to sell, and lets buyers browse for longer. (Trader setup at 0900 and doors open at 0930). And don't forget the BVWS AGM in the "Elgar Room" at 1200. A good opportunity to ask any questions of the Committee. I hope to see lots of you there! Remember to put it in your diary. -Jeremy

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
HOT NEWS!!
I have finally managed to arrange a proper caterer to do hot food at Biggleswade. (We could not do it last time as we don't have catering liability insurance etc). They will provide a full service throughout the day with hot bacon or sausage rolls or sandwiches, samosas, beef pasties etc, as well as tea/coffee etc. I trust this meets with everyone's approval. I hope to see lots of you there on the 12th at this nice new venue. Bring any non-BVWS friends you like - all welcome. -Jeremy

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
I really hope that Biggleswade continues to grow: for some time attending Harpenden and seeing it dying on its feet was pretty depressing, for those of us who remember what it was like in the 1980s.

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
We are trying our best to grow Biggleswade. It's the only BVWS Home Counties / Northern London show. I have asked for a few small adverts to go out locally, to encourage new visitors, who might end up as BVWS members. Anyway, all are welcome. If anyone here can help spread the word, that would be great. I think we all enjoy shows with a good crowd and a real buzz. Please come along if you can and collar a committee member if you have any suggestions at all for improvements, to shows, or to the BVWS.

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
I am a supporter of this event, I went to the last one and it was a good day, despite my intention of just selling stuff (bargains) I did succumb to temptation and buy a few things.
At this one I will have a stall selling donated stuff to support the MCR21 project and “on the day” donations are welcome. Hopefully I will find time to list some of the choice junk on the Forum sale pages prior to the day. www.mcr21.org.uk |

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
A reminder that you should aim (via satnav or Google maps) for the postcode: SG18 8JH, not "Weatherley Centre". You need to enter from Eagle Farm Road (school entrance). Google maps to Weatherley Centre shows entry via a back road - Orchard Close - but that entrance is not open and it's a long way back round!

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
Update re pedestrian access. The back gate from Orchard Close WILL now apparently be opened for us during the event, but only for pedestrians. Vehicle access will be as normal from Eagle Farm Road SG18 8JH.

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
Message for sellers:
I will be sending out your info pack via SAE in the next day or two. Please shout if you dont think you have received it by the weekend. I have only a very few spare stalls left now so please contact me first via email if possible (details in the Bulletin) before sending your booking in, to prevent disappointment! It looks like this event will be well packed with goodies. -Jeremy (Please use mobile number if calling, if you have it. BT have managed to kill my landline!)

Jeremy, as you're a member of the BVWS Committee can I ask you where the membership cards are for 2023, given that Biggleswade is but nine days away?

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
They normally arrive with the spring Bulletin, which is often after the first event of the year. As non-members are invited I'm not sure a membership card is necessary anymore? (particularly as there is no auction.)

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
Fingers crossed... but don't worry, all are welcome. It helps to see membership cards so we can get an idea of how many members come, but not essential this time.
See you all there! -Jeremy

Re: BVWS Biggleswade Meet & AGM - March 12th 2023
Parking:
There are 70 spaces right by the hall. If these are full, you can use any other parking space on the school grounds as it is a non-school day. If all are full, you can park on the road outside the gates. Eagle Farm Road is a dead-end so there is little traffic. See you all on Sunday. -Jeremy
