Default "Television for the Amateur Constructor" by Chapple

Hello

I bought this book (2nd edition, 1934) today for a few pounds, which looks very nice with fold out circuit diagrams.

I'm now wondering whether it might be rare/valuable, as there is none for sale on the usual websites, and the only one I have found was sold as part of a Bonhams auction lot...?

Thanks

Ben

Hi Ben. On May 20th [in this section] Geoff999 was asking for details of a book he recalled [pub circa1936] but couldn't quite get the title. He thought maybe Modern Television. I've got something similar but in the North, I can't recall the name either. They could well be all the same title in one of those regular Forum coincidences. I'm sure that yours would fetch a bit more than you paid maybe £20 upwards but it depends where and when I suppose. Have you looked at Kelly Books-media specialists?

I have been looking for one of those for a while. Let me know if you want to part with it.

Dave - Thanks for the info. I don't think it's the one that Geoff999 was asking for, as although it contains the info to construct a TV, it doesn't have the warning about not doing it on the kitchen table! I didn't know about Kelly Books, so will check that out.

PWH - thank you for the offer. I'd like to hang on to it for now, but will keep you in mind if I do decide to sell it on. Good luck in the meantime.

Hi Ben. Well mine is certainly a book about constructing a set. I will see if my brother can find it in the Ramsbottom store and check the title! It may well be the same as yours after all.

Cheers,
Dave
