Default Ferrograph Series 7 - BBC mods & motor bearings info?

Hi all,

Following a set of replacement idler wheels and a new pinch wheel - plus a huge amount of cleaning - I have now got my 722 version working well.

However, I have come across a couple of things which have piqued my intereest whilst browsing for further info on this recorder, namely the 'BBC mod' and the spool motor bearings mod - both of which have been referred to elsewhere in old posts.

I'm guessing that the BBC mnod may simply be conversion to feed balanced lines, but that would be just a guess. So if anyone has further information on either, I would be very interested to hear more.

Also, by way of a PS, does anyone happen to know of a source of replacements (other than the usual online auctions sites) for the perspex cover which runs over the two VU meters and under the I/O controls?

As always, any info would be much appreciated.

David
