Default Stewart Warner R-136-A Dial pointer removal

I just acquired a cool Stewart Warner radio (1930's) with a R-136-A chassis. The glass dial was broken in shipping and I have ordered a replacement. The problem I am having is I can't figure out how to remove the dial pointer. It doesn't appear to just pull off unless I am just not pulling hard enough. Anyone have any idea on the trick to remove it?
