Re: HMV Record deck problems
Yesterday we had a run from Cornwall to London (Hackney) and bought tha Marconi Radiogram ARG27A
On testing it, well, surprise surprise the record deck actually works All I need to do is replace the needle armature, yes, I have a spare one The only fault is the dial drive cord seems to be broken Please can anyone advise me how to repair this As far as I know, my partner has some fishing line Sharon Last edited by Newgirl2013; 20th Jul 2020 at 11:41 am. |

Re: HMV Record deck problems
The ARG27A service sheet is available from the "Vintage Radio Service Data" link top RHS above. These may include the re-stringing instructions/diagram.

Re: HMV Record deck problems
Transferred deck from Radiogram into the HMV Cabinet
Got quite a surprise The original Capacitor starting motor has been replaced with a new EMI Rim drive motor Replaced the Needle Armature All working fine, absolutely delighted Going to put a Garrard Autoslim into the Radiogram, repair the dial drive cord and sell it on I've downloaded the Service Sheet for the ARG27A It has a diagram to replace the drive cord Sharon |

When restringing the drive cord, allow plenty of time, patience and loads of swearing!

Re: HMV Record deck problems
Ok everyone, I wonder if anyone could help here
When I removed the deck from the radiogram I found the fixing screws are too long for the HMV Cabinet Could anyone find me four of the small Chrome Screws As far as I know the same chrome screws were used in some of the table top EMI Radiograms When I sent the HMV to Norwich Restore he has gone and lost the four chrome screws |

Re: HMV Record deck problems
As to fitting a 1961 Garrard "Autoslim" into a Marconi ARG27A casing and chassis might be a waste of a decent autochanger. The final article will be non-original and may not even sell. A working Autoslim is worth at least £25-00.

Re: HMV Record deck problems
Now that I've removed the deck from the radiogram, I might scrap the rest
