French Art Deco Radio I picked up earlier
Picked up this lovely looking French Art Deco radio Earlier (unknown manufacturer)
Refurbishing the cabinet right now and have stripped it down. I am replacing the god awful unoriginal speaker grille to something more era appropriate. My plan for it is to keep the chassis original cleaned up, but unrestored and amp the speaker up to a modern bluetooth module I’ll fix inside. Plenty of options on ebay and have done this before. I like doing this as it keeps the radio original, reliable and also safe, but also allows the old mono speaker to be used. Plus nothing is broadcast on AM what I can pick up anyway. So be able to play my vintage stuff from my smartphone. Just looking at speaker cloth options for it right now. Not sure what I should pick though, most stuff on ebay seems to be based in the US. The speaker cloth it currently has seems to be some kind of polyester curtain material. |

They did make lovely radios the French. The Sonora 301 is positively decadent.

Schneider had their “Bakelite toupees” which they also fitted to their televisions.
