Scottish meet 2022
Hi.
I'm seriously considering doing another meet next year after the two I did a good few years ago now. Norman Raeburn took up the challenge for a good few years but has since given up his business and hobby to concentrate on other things. Covid19 has and is still a problem. But as I'm thinking of late spring and early summer we can only hope the worst is past by then. As usual it will be open to swaps, snacks and drinks will be supplied, there is ample parking and those wishing to travel, there are now some very good local hotels if staying overnight. The meet is open to anyone from all corners of the UK and further afield. Suggestions on dates please, my own leaning is later in May.

Re: Scottish meet 2022
Remembering, of course, that RetrotechUK is to be around that time.
With the above proviso, I would potentially be interested. At least I should be driving again by then!

Re: Scottish meet 2022
I'd be interested Trevor, just to shake your hand for fixing my Pye radio.
Oh, and to visit the Dick Institute. I can use Birthday pressure to convince SWMBO in May that Kilmarnock is the perfect place for our first trip over the border.

Hi!
I'm hoping my eye gets done by then as I'd love a run up to Scotland to have a mosey in that event as well! Chris Williams

Re: Scottish meet 2022
Thanks to all for the suggestions.
Keep them coming so an ideal time can be made. Any other ideas would also be appreciated.

Re: Scottish meet 2022
Hi Trevor, I want to attend. I have given up vintage TV but still have a collection of radios.
Please can some of the Scottish contingent show some support. There are no meets up here so this is an opportunity to meet old and new faces. All the best, Norman |

Hope to make it, so there'll be a few spare seats from Fife.

Re: Scottish meet 2022
Hmm - a chance to "move on" my Teletype ASR33?
No experience of these meets so couple of dumb questions:- Is it a carboot type scene? Any chance of rough location (postode?) of the proposed car park location.

Re: Scottish meet 2022
Hi.
It's not really a boot sale. What we do is fill up our cars with stuff we want to sell or swap. Decant the car and bring it around to part we have the meet, in my case the garden around the back of the house. I normally have a Gazebo erected. I advise marking or labelling items with who has brought them with either a price or whether it's a swap item. What has happened in the past is some items are left, this is because the person really doesn't want it and there is no interest in it anyway. Its not a big issue unless it's a large item as I don't have a huge amount of spare space. Re parking my space can hold between 4 and 5 cars less though if the cars are big like range rovers etc. My neighbour across the road is helpful and can take three, on street parking is also good as the pavements are wide and made to allow parking so no real issues. I cannot though be held responsible for any damage to vehicles by poor parking etc. We will do our best to accommodate those wishing a non animal based diet but within limits, those with special dietary needs should bring their own supplies. We only have one WC, sanitiser will be supplied, if covid is still a problem I'd advise a lateral flow test for all attending for the safety of all and peace of mind. Hope this helps. Re post code I'd rather not share this on open forum right now but if anyone wants to see the location beforehand please PM and I'll give details. Many thanks.

Re: Scottish meet 2022
Thanks Trevor - that fully answers my queries (including the unasked ones) - much appreciated.
No need for postcode or location - it was just to investigate if the parking was a public car park.

Re: Scottish meet 2022
Definitely leaning to late May, Dave.
Will be good to catch up again, no doubt we all will look a lot older.

Re: Scottish meet 2022
Hi there - depending on the date, I'm interested. I live in Perth so it shouldn't be a problem getting there.
My area of interest is computers rather than TVs/radios - do you think that the event may cater for that? Thanks. Colin. |

Re: Scottish meet 2022
Hi.
Just to confirm that the Scottish Meet is expected to go ahead at the end of May as planned. The date of Saturday 28th May seems appropriate. Any objections please make this known sooner or than later. Many Thanks

Sorry for the late reply in all honesty probably no, but no reason why you shouldn't come. The stipulation is all car boots are to be left open so I can empty all the spare electronics from my loft will be equally distributed

Hi Trevor, I will be there, 28th May is fine. I am sure I have some junk (highly valuable collectibles) to bring along. Norman

Re: Scottish meet 2022
'Tis with much regret that I wont be able to make it. Family commitments that weekend.
I'm sure Trevor & Judy will put on a great day for everyone. Regards, David |
