Default What is it?

Just a bit of fun. Can you guess what this was used for? It has little feet on the base. Probably 1920's. John.

I was thinking the same thing but a device to massage the scalp to induce hair growth in the dark distant days!

With so many holes, I wonder if it's not for heating something to generate a vapour ?

I also think heating - the handle looks to be quite thermally insulated.

Is it for quickly drying ink on draughtsmen's drawing boards without blotting?

A small heater for stamp collectors, to speed the drying of glue on hinges?

I think it's a sort of hairdryer for dogs. It was used to give your poodle a bouffant. Out of fashion of course these days.

Lots of good answers and some simply hilarious! I think Russell's early suggestion needs further experimentation.

To be honest I thought it was an early electric hair dryer but at 800w a tad on the high side for a lamp adapter, the usual connection in a household setting back then. Could it have been a professional 'salon' model? The switch on the back gives cold, hot and off.

It has "ULTRA" Dryer on the label but I don't think it is anything to do with Ultra radio.

What about a clothes dryer? Depending on which way the fan blows, it could stand on a frame or be stood underneath.

With the "feet" like that it would fit over a round pan, but what for?
