Micronata low distortion generator.
Hi all.
Anyone know what powers one of these old testers? I've got two black wires hanging from the board. I suspect it's a PP9 or similar. Any advice? Thanks. |

Re: Micronata low distortion generator.
A bit more info or picture would help identify the model. A quick Google reveals several different items with similar names.

Re: Micronata low distortion generator.
I have one just like Peter’s.
It takes 2 x 4.5V batteries in series to provide 9V. Type 1289 lantern, the flat one with the 2 brass strips on top. Originally came with a plastic piece that held the batteries together and provided the series connection. The 1289 is still available, I still see them at boot sales, usually Panasonic. Peter |

Re: Micronata low distortion generator.
With unknown power wires + ground/ - can often be ID'd by looking at the PCB if any. Ground or - neg is usually easy because the ground plane on a PCB is thicker and the most common/plentiful trace , the - neg of electrolytic caps go to it, same to a point with +, ID'd by the pos of electrolytic/tant caps and the cathode of zener's.
Where it gets tricky is when you have two batteries in series with a ground/0v and pos/neg rails. Andy.

Re: Micronata low distortion generator.
Just to clarify by "ground/ -" and "Ground or - neg" I mean ground as in a split rail supply or the negative of the battery terminal in a single rail supply, which ever is applicable. of coarse big fat traces could be neither if PNP trannies are used.
Andy.
