Battery player with Goldring Cygnet deck
Anyone have a picture of the underneath of this deck, as I can't figure the mechanics of the arm components to the switch. Thanks, Bob.

Re: battery player with goldring cygnet deck
Out of interest would that be a Transistogram record player?

Re: Battery player with Goldring Cygnet deck
Can’t be many of those around so a picture of your unit may help someone work it out for you.

Re: Battery player with Goldring Cygnet deck
I had one of these when I was a teenager, and always thought that the chrome frame on the lid should have a red "Pye" logo in the centre. Maybe Edward can help with this one?

Re: Battery player with Goldring Cygnet deck
This is an early Pye model, possibly 1959.

Re: Battery player with Goldring Cygnet deck
From the photo in post #3 it appears that the levers are in totally the wrong place. If the arm is at rest (assumed) then the levers will move towards the outside of the chassis as the arm moves across the disc and away from the switch.

Re: Battery player with Goldring Cygnet deck
It might have been sold by Lasky's, maybe the Pye badges were removed before being delivered to Lasky's, Lasky's advert says made by famous British manufacture but no name is given.

Re: Battery player with Goldring Cygnet deck
Yes, old Ken Lasky was always looking out for deals. The PYE logo is removed as the units were offered as "remaindered" items - a term not used much these days in the Dealer Network. Also in those early days, C O Stanley still saw Transisitorised units carrying a degree of risk to the Pye brand, hence PAM.

Re: Battery player with Goldring Cygnet deck
Thanks for that Bill, do you think the centre was omitted by the seller's, marketing it as their own brand transistogram. Bob.
