Good job, glad you got it working though like with a mucky patch on your glasses the display would drive me nuts.

" I now understand why Flukes became the meters of choice..." they are pretty nifty, the bar graph is a useful tool and the protection is good. Old Fluke meter's are affordable too and will last longer than several cheap DMM's.

Ah but will they last as long as the AVO, or do LCDs have a finite life?

Fair point Stuart. As it happens my AVO 8 and the Fluke 75 were made in 1985 & 1986 respectively and I rather suspect they'll both out last me by some margin so I'm happy elther way!

Andy is spot on with the analogy, if you'll forgive the pun. As with muck on glasses you do get used to looking though the blemish. However, I don't think it'll be too long before my perfectionist side wins out and I start the search a replacement LCD panel. I haven't forgotten Steve's earlier offer either.
