Default VW Sapphire 1 car radio

G'day to all from Down-under.

I am attempting to work on a Sapphire 1 transistorised car radio manufactured by Dominion Electrohome Industries Limited and made in Canada. It was installed in a VW Type 3 vehicle of late 1950s or early 60s. Any info would be greatly appreciated especially a schematic and other service data.

The set is completely dead and states on the label as being 6volt 1,5 amp.
At the double pole switch on the volume control pot I measured 6 volt and 12 volt. It seems to have a voltage doubler circuit which I have not seen before.

Any help whatsoever will be appreciated,

Many thanks,

Peter

You may be able to source a Sams Photofact Auto Radio sheet for this set.

Is it the Sapphire 1 By Bendix?

It is not a Bendix. I cannot find it on Sams.

While searching for something else I came across this US car radio site.

https://antiqueradioschematics.org/bendix-auto.htm

Search down the left hand column for 4TBV VW SAPPHIRE I 1964.

I hope that is what you are looking for.
