Thank you TimB, and many thanks to Phil for making it all possible.

I must insist on compensating Phil for his costs though!

I was thinking of applying my PMOS SC/MP to a NIBL system. Trouble is, it would need at least 2k of RAM, and that was a lot of contemporary parts (think: 16 off 2102). A Scrumpi would be a more appropriate use for my chip methinks.

karen the costs are low
take this as a contribution to the work you've done with the PIC14. with which I'm having a lot of fun I'm finishing version 2 with the keyboard and the box. Scrumpi opens up a lot of possibilities, but that was Miller's goal, as your PIC14 a wonderful pedagogical tool.
we will need your knowledge to redo scrumpi 3.

I really wish I could get a good look at a SCRUMPI 3 - I don't think they have one at the computing museum and I'm not even sure how many were made. We may have to make some fairly creative guesses as to the design of the video section....

I have not been able to locate one anywhere - I did wonder if maybe one would eventually turn up in a donated box at one of the museums. So I agree we may just have to get creative.

Yes the description in the article which I have extracted in one of the posts above is a good starting point though. I may start a new thread for this so we can keep this one on SCRUMPI 1

That is amazingly generous, but I've come to expect nothing less from this forum

PM on its way, TimB.

Useful PDF - I have a few of them ready for the SCRUMPI - as to programming them I found an article in Kilobaud magazine:

https://archive.org/details/Kilobaud197709

Looks like an interesting project to convert to SC/MP perhaps from 6502 - could then be plugged into the SCRUMPI eventually.

Ah excellent I wondered how he used the OC28 - funny enough, I actually have one of those here in my box of old bits...

Is this PCB now the larger size 5 x6 1/2 inches?

yes identical dimension, identical schematics, almost identical serigraphy, all identical remains the manufacture which normally should be transparent epoxy with tinning. I tried to respect at most the place of each component.
for the box I plan to make a 3d box with a plexy cover and a 15 pin plug underneath for a loading extension with an arduino.
I'm also writing a small programming notebook for the scrumpi. TIM if you want to complete it in english it's better.

Nice one on the OC28 stuff - I just have to build that now as I will be able to use my SCRUMPI in my Caravan from a 12v supply...

I also did Page 5 as well with the VDU and keyboard demo... and for completeness Phil has already had drafts but here is the Assemble Pages 1 and 2.

Got my SCRUMPI pcb2 from tim/phil thanks! Looks great and the support for SC/MP 2 is very neat. Whilst admiring it, a thought occurred to me - with ENIN now having a pad, it would be ready to connect a microcontroller to NENIN and the address and data lines and program it to directly address the memory to loaf save the memory from/to the microcontroller flash memory to allow a certain amount of persistance without having the complexity of emulating the swich interface. It would also be fairly inconspicuous too.

Excellent news they got there safe - there are now five times as many known owners of a SCRUMPI1 than there were earlier this year!

On the DMA using NENIN - excellent idea - probably easy to pick up Write line as well on the switch CS8 or its route to RAM as well.

I think I will keep going down my Diode boot board route for a serial receive and use SIO from a TTL USB UART with my PCB2 version - that can power it and program it hopefully.

The NENIN route sounds ideal for the original PMOS version which needs a bulky PSU anyway.
