Re: Golborne Swap meet
There's booking forms in the spring Bulletin, which should arrive on your doormat this week.
The editor will be chasing the printers in the morning, as they've had everything two weeks ago..... Looking forward to the meet, see you there!

Re: Golborne Swap meet
Thank you Greg, I was nearly sure it was only the NVCF form in last Bulletin which I filled in.

Re: Golborne Swap meet
The Golborne BVWS swap meet is coming Sunday 9th April, just west of Manchester.
http://www.bvws.org.uk/events/locations.php Doors open at 10 (stall holders 9.00). The usual variety of stalls selling Radio, Television, Audio, Communications receivers, Test gear, Valves, Components, Spares, etc. Working 405 line TV display. Ample free parking, hot and cold refreshments available. The BVWS stall will be there selling the usual range of capacitors, Deoxit, etc., so you can stock up the workshop. And a van load of quality items from the bulging BVWS stores at 'we don't want to take stuff back' prices! And all major debit/credit cards now taken at the BVWS stall! If you have one or two items you'd like to sell, the 'Bring and Buy' stall is where you can sell your items at 10% commission to the BVW&TV Museum. It's a members only event but you may bring a guest for a sample visit. You can join or renew membership on the day. Credit/debit card payments taken at the BVWS stall. See you there!

Re: Golborne Swap meet
I assume there is a minimum amount for credit cards. Also, is there a transaction fee?

Re: Golborne Swap meet
2.5% for Credit cards, 1% for Debit cards. That's what the Society gets charged by the handling bank, so we're simply passing it straight on.
We can't legally imply a minimum amount but it would be more financially beneficial to the Society (members) in general if smaller purchases of say less than a tenner were to be made in cash.

Re: Golborne Swap meet
Thanks for the clarification, and the advice on the best way to handle smaller purchases. Interesting to know that you "can't legally imply a minimum amount", as I know plenty of places who don't merely imply, but state a minimum purchase.

Re: Golborne Swap meet
Hi Gents, who will be going to the swapmeet? I'll certainly be there to hand bits over, answer transformer queries etc.
Badges? Ed |

Re: Golborne Swap meet
I intend to be there - and am happy to provide my usual function of heading up the bring and buy stall.
Now that my badge has returned to this universe after its sojourn in an alternative reality (OK, so I simply mislaid it - but that's the boring version), it is my firm intention to wear it. I do find that they are a useful way to put a face to someone one only normally sees as words on a screen.

Re: Golborne Swap meet
And don't forget that the Blackpool Radio Rally is on the same day at the Norbreck Castle Hotel. Perfectly possible to visit both events. Golborne first of course.
I have done this for the last couple of years then back home to Rotherham. Peter |

I'll be going and hope to have a stall to pass on a few surplus items and components.

Details of the Blackpool Rally can be found at narsa.org.uk (not to be confused with NASA!)

I'll be there to collect a transformer from Ed, and to deliver several years worth of Practical Wireless to Dave Moll.
I'll get me badge

Re: Golborne Swap meet
Thanks. These should then mean that I have a complete run from May 1944 to December 2010, with just a few gaps to fill in the early 1940s.

Re: Golborne Swap meet
Just giving this a heads up as it's next Sunday.
As the Bulletin with booking forms in was later being sent out, if you want to have a stall, a few places are still available, it's a big room, just turn up by 9am with the fee (Stall + stall holder £12, helper +£3) and we'll find you a table. General entry from 10am. See you there!

Re: Golborne Swap meet. April 9 2017.
Sorry, Steve, I can't help there.
Anyway, the purpose of this post is to encourage you all to bring along items for the Bring and Buy stall. Items can either be given with proceeds to society funds* or to be sold (at a price fixed by you) with 10% of the proceeds going to funds. N.B. Either way, please don't forget to take away any items of yours that remain unsold. Also, don't forget to collect any proceeds from items sold on a commission basis. *To help to support the Wireless & TV Museum in Dulwich.
