Would have kept the budgie warm, not sure how the bird droppings would affect the radio however....

I wonder how it felt about the vibrations, hopefully the volume was kept low.

Could the set be an early Derwent as a lot of these sets were sold by the coop

Nice picture of the past though

Thanks for the suggestion.

The person who posted this has thousands of photos, most of which are taken outdoors on holidays. I've not seen any others with any other radios or TVs yet.

Hi, I think you will find that the Co-op sold Defiant sets as their own brand as other manufactures would not deal with them because they regarded the Co-op dividend as giving a a discount and therefore sell sets below the recommended retail price.

Regards
Trevor.

Could it be a Philco or a round-dialed Fergie?

Anyone spotted the candle holder and candle on the fireplace and slipper or shoe bottom left. As Ken in post #4 says, it’s a nice picture of the past.

Is that a candle-holder? It looks to me more like the 'thing' you'd use to twiddle the damper/remove the grate-front for cleaning out the ash-pan on the open fire.

There appears to be a sconce with a stub of candle on the mantelpiece.
This would suggest that modernising the front parlour with a new fireplace took priority over extending the electric light upstairs!
