Crimping Dial Search Cord Loops Suggestions Please
Good afternoon all.
Are these crimps readily available or do we make up our own? Also looking for something suitable to tie off/crimp a looped end on 0.4mm dial search cord/wire. Brian |

CPC do uninsulated ferrules for neatly terminating stranded wire in a range of sizes for 0.5 to 6mm cables around 50p to £3 according to size and brand for a pack of 100. They should work on drive cord. Search for ferrules, or bootlace ferrules.

I tend to use bootlace ferrules and cut off the plastic crimp and seal with nail varnish.

The dial cord knot they used to use in radio factories was known as the 'Perfection Loop'.
I've yet to learn how to tie one that would be worthy of the title 'perfection' but if anyone might wish to give it a try, a couple of pics are attached. The more I try to tie one, the more appeal that crimped ferrules have.  Dial cord stringing layouts are the work of Satan.

In a non-radio related cord securing application, we used the crimps & tool sold by fishing shops for making loops in sea fishing line. They were pretty much like those linked-to by Donald

Model engineering suppliers do brass tubing in a variety of diameters. Cut a bit off and crimp with pliers.

The trouble with crimps is unless you are expert at using the tool, you run the risk of crushing the cord so it may break prematurely.
