Default Philips 462A two control knobs jammed on.

As subject.

This set is in beautiful external condition but needs component replacement.

One problem. I can't get two of the knobs off, tuning and band switch, both on the same side.
To add to the fun, the nearer one has half the head missing, so there's no slot left for a screwdriver.

I've tried PlusGas, penetrating oil, percussive maintenance etc over several tries and still they're stuck fast.

I've run out of ideas. Is there any hope?

Have you tried heat? A soldering iron tip on the grubscrew perhaps?

Coolth too possibly from freezer spray if you have it.

Left hand drill bit may do the biz if you have a suitable reversing drill (most battery operated ones will oblige) and space to attack from.

If the screw with half it's head missing still has the other half present, you could try finding a metal shaft of suitable diamer and filing the end into a 'D' shape, so that it fits down the side of the remaining screw head, then whilst holding it in the screw hole try turning it. All being well it should release the damaged screw remains.
