Norman makes reference to the televising of the 1936 Berlin Olympics too.

Though the underlying ideology is horrid, you have to accept that Leni Riefenstahl's production has a certain style - equivalent [both in artistic-ability and propagandist-horribleness] to Sergei Eisenstein's agitprop from the same era.

Just a week or so ago The Times had an article about Riefenstahl that had some good critique.
