Really for an event like this, you should bring a reasonable amount of cash as most stallholders will only take cash.

Looking forwards to seeing you Kevin, I will have some FM to AM convertors for sale on my stall, one is reserved for you. Some have MP3 input as well as the FM radio input. As featured in the BVWS Bulletin Sumer 2017 by Guy Fernando.

I sent off my form and cheque to book a stall at tomorrow’s Golborne swap meet, but have not received any tickets.
Shall I turn up tomorrow anyway with my BVWS membership card?
Many Thanks,
Phil Blundell.

Just got back from yet another great Golborne meet!

Many thanks to the organisers, the stallholders and the venue staff for feeding us.

It was nice to speak to some familiar faces like Oldjohn (thanks for the am/fm tx), Keithstv, Ed_Dinning and Steve.

I also got to meet and thank Dave_G4EBT for the marvellous minimod and collected six radios and a record player from Steve (Colourstar).

BoaterSam, I'll see you at the auction in January. Good luck with the veneer and Bon Voyage!

See you all in April.

It was my first event like this, & well worth the drive.

The 405 line sets were great to see in operation, & giving me a chance to hear the 10.125 kHz line whistle often mentioned here!

Yes another great day out, some good sets found new homes, some not so good found me!

Unfortunately none of my bring and buy items sold so the car was a bit full again going home.
Despite being determined not to buy any more sets I was thwarted by one offered free and Mike Barker making me buy a McMichael 137 at a price I could not refuse.

Ken, I'll miss in January, will be 8000 miles away till end of March. Will be at Gnosall 17th and 18th of this month though.

Another brilliant day out at Golborne, many thanks to all those who make it possible. Great to see some old friends and put faces to fellow forum members. Some really good bargains as well.
Unlike Sam above I was able to dispose of all I wanted to sell, in fact it was me who gave him the free one that he had to take home!

Roll on next April!
Hope you all arrived home safely.

A great event as always!

Forum members were out in force and I was pleased to be able to exchange pleasantries with at least sixteen, including some with whom I was acquainted but hadn't met in person before, such as Ken 'Kentode', Geoff 'Murphy Maniac', 'RadioGraham' and Ed 'Johnny English'. It's always nice to be able to put a face to a name!

Many thanks to the stalwarts who work so hard to make these events possible - Mark Riding, Mike Barker, Jim, Greg Hewitt to name but a few, often travelling considerable distances involving an overnight stay, then a long drive home.

I managed to scrounge a lift (cheers Greg!) and for the first time the M6 was not a nightmare.

A good selection of bits and bobs, and despite when the BVWS stall was being set up thinking "they'll never shift all that" pretty much everything went.

Didn't take away too much; a near immaculate Advance E2, mains cable chopped off, very wise as having opened it up I can see the mains cable rubber was - literally - shocking but in all other respects the rest of it immaculate.

Bought a few valves. Well, actually I bought some valve boxes that happened to have valves in them for display purposes.

Also I rescued some Practical Television magazines (see separate offered thread).

_SO_ tempted by that thumping great GEC telly - it's just Nukem Towers is already creaking at the seams! I may yet still weaken ...

Talking of tellies, a nice display of tellies as ever and interesting to see someone had an 819 line set running, never seen one running before. Excellent picture, though to be honest not sure better than a good 405 set, at least on smaller screens.

But better than all that - the catering did good chips

TTFN,
Jon

I did wonder what the survival rate for 819 sets are, as imagine similar things happened to them as 405 line sets here as people adopted 625 lines.

The picture looked great with the test cards, but it would have been great to see what a moving image would have looked like.

Great day out and got to meet a few forum members. Came home with a selection of valves and other components but no sets. My rountoit queue has to be shorter! Many thanks to all who came and those who put the event together.
