Default Radio Equipment at Bamfords Auctions Derby

I see that Bamfords Auctioneers of Derby have quite a few interesting lots of vintage radio and test equipment in their Victorian Sale to be held on 17th February.

Victorian sale? That would be vintage indeed and very pricey

Truly steam radio. Though to be fair, telegraphy artefacts could justifiably be in on the act. Perhaps they called in some of the specialists discussed in the "Auction House Dating and Valuations" thread.

There are some large lots of quite good stuff. Piles of nice test equipment and military stuff too - a bit unusual for that kind of auction house.

Those are just the sort of auctioneers we should be praising. Their descriptions are very good, and they don't put estimates on things just for the sake of having a number.

I agree, auctioneers can be lazy about descriptions but these were very detailed which is what drew them to my attention. Most likely an estate sale.

Bamfords are often featured in TV shows such as Bargain Hunt. They are a very professional operation.

How about item 251? A seriously large Savage amplifier with two nice triodes. Not much use without an output transformer, though.

Well, I know who won the amplifier (not me!) it appears that the output transformer (all 37.5kg of it) is fitted.
I might get to play with it (doubtless I will end up helping to collect it!)

It might go well with an organ, a brute like that.

Does it use mercury vapour rectifiers by any chance?
