Sharp MZ-821
Hi
I have 2 Sharp MZ-821 computers from 1984, the other loads Os from cassette and the other from mini disk. The other has been used by a heavy smoker as you can see in the pictures attached. The keyboard picture is before cleaning but the other picture is of the cover after I used every way I know to clean it. Is there a way to get this yellow thing off plastic ? I don't want to paint it, so I leave it as it is if there is no way to clean it. Regards Nisse |

Re: Sharp MZ-821
Are you certain that the discolouration has been cased by tobacco smoke? It looks like ultraviolet damage to me, caused by extended exposure to sunlight. You often see the same effect on light coloured transistor radios which have stood on a bathroom or kitchen windowsill for many years.
If it's UV damage, there isn't much you can do as the plastic itself has changed colour. If it really is tobacco staining then a foaming aerosol cleaner should remove most of it. Good luck, Paul |

I have the same problem with a Perdio trannie radio in my collection. It used to be white (I think) but now it's the same colour as your computer. See http://www.vintage-radio.com/recent-...rdio-pr29.html The original colour can be seen where the handle is folded up in the second photo.
