Jill SX-200
I am having some problems with A JIL SX-200 scanner.
Unfortunatly the only schematic I can find is of quite poor quality, making components difficult to locate. (It is part of a 3.3Mb service manual). Is there a higher resolution schematic available, or a good copy of the schematic available that I could scan. What is available is certainly better than nothing, but a better schematic will be very helpful. Thanks Peter

Re: Jill SX-200
No circuit or layouts here, but I have repaired a handful of these venerable receivers. What's the fault?

The display the pll chip will be hard to obtain now.
There is quite a good manual here http://www.rigpix.com/miscrx/jil_sx200_service.pdf |

Re: Jill SX-200
Ive only just made a preliminary check on it.
I have no audio output. I seem to have audio going into the control PCB, but nothing coming out! The control PCB looks like it is for squelch, muting, and possible some audio amplification. The scanner may have been reverse connected, as the electrolytic on the input have exploded. The reverse protection diode looks OK though! Biggest problem I have is cross referencing components on PCB with schematic, as schematic is very low resolution (I have to zoom in 300% to read it, then the numbers are fuzzy). Plenty of useful information in service manual, so I will set about tracing the audio more methodically tonight. Peter

Re: Jill SX-200
Paul
Thanks Already aware of that thread, and ...alas,... that is the manual I already have. Made more progress now, The CPU was sending out an output to Q202 to mute the audio for some reason. Disconnected the output and now traced audio to the volume pot. Dismantled pot and found fingers had broken away from the slider, so now in process gluing these back (lost my epoxy so need to buy some more ) Hopefully that will restore audio. Get a nice AM tone, but a ragged FM tone, at the volume pot, so may need some more work in the FM side. Peter

Re: Jill SX-200
Ah, the JIL SX-200, intermod in a box ;-) (at least mine is) but nice to use
I should have legible schematics if you can wait while I find them. Had to get a new µproc from Garex but that was a long time ago and I've not used it since TETRA came in... |

Re: Jill SX-200
Peter, I have a (rather poor) block diagram which may help put things in perspective. If you want a copy, PM me with your e-mail address.

Re: Jill SX-200
Thanks for the offers of help.
The service manual does contain a useful block diagram which is quite readable, so no problems there, thanks. Happy to wait for the possibility of some decent schematics, though hopefully this should be working this evening, if my repairs to the volume pot hold out. Not sure what else I will find wrong with it though! peter
