Hi Tim,

Can't quite make out the third set of NSN numbers on the battery.

Being only 90V would probably indicate something low powered like a receiver. The only one that comes to mind to me is the MCR1. The battery date is quite later than WW2 so it could possibly be used with the post war MCR1 made in Belgium by MBLE. It uses 90v for ht and 7.5v for lt/gb.

Another possible use is in test equipment.

The "99" in the number indicates a UK origin so can eliminate most US stuff.

What is the pinout for the socket?

Bruce

The "E.R." is a bit of a giveaway too

Hi,

But exactly what is 'UK origin'? I have a British military watch
with the 99 in the NSN , but it is marked 'Swiss made'.

Kind regards

Dave

The 99 is the NCB (National Codification Bureau) number. It usually means country of origin or manufacture but not always. It is the country that introduced the product to the NATO supply system. In this case it was the UK.

The dimensions of the battery for the MCR1 are given as 2 3/8" X 7 1/2" X 2 7/8". (Source Wireless For The Warrior Volume 3). The battery in post #1 looks bigger than that. The voltages are correct though. It's possible other size batteries were used.

What does the socket on the battery look like?

May have been used in a radiation survey meter.

The common white No1 meter uses two 150v batteries. It uses valves, but they're all cold cathode and don't need an LT battery.

Found some photos of MCR1. The "mains" PSU shows the socket, is it like yours?
