Default Baggy Vinyl

I have a 60's Dynatron set (Jewel) which is covered in a dark green vinyl which has gone a bit 'baggy'
I have tightened speaker material with hot air but not sure about this one.
Has any of you tackled this problem or should I just leave it alone?

It's more likely to be disintegrated foam padding rather than baggy vinyl.

Is it this version? If so, there doesn't appear to be a great amount of vinyl on it.

"Covered in a dark green vinyl" makes me wonder if someone's re-covered the radio and made a bit of a mess of it.

RMorg lists only two Jewels, the other having a wood finish. Perhaps there was another variant?

Strange, this one looks similar from the outside (except that it has 8 transistors printed on dial) and inside is quite different having one battery at each end and pcb mounted at top of cabinet.
Cant see all transistors till strip down but can read AC127, OC71 and OC81
Another variant?
David,
The vinyl looks original but I believe your right, the foam has died! but was only on the ends and rear panel.

and it (TP33) doesn't seem to be listed on the Service data DVD!

Yes, the model number of the TP33's vinyl-covered version was TP30A. Not much immediate help there with data since, as you've noticed, the internals are nothing like the TP30. Like Hacker with the Mini-Herald they seem to have thought better of using PP7s, and switched to PP9s for the later version.

Thanks Paul,

I shall have to get hunting for the info! I haven't powered it up yet although it is supposed to work but with a crackly tuning gang.
Nicely made cabinet though.
