Radiolympia 1947 -1949 BBC TV Studio Display
In the search for the origins of an unusual BBC camera, it occurred to me that it might had been part of the studio displays the BBC put on at these postwar radio shows to promote TV.
I have a recollection of seeing a article describing the BBC's studio display at one or both of these shows, but I can't locate it. I have been through Wireless World and numerous other publications, they all dealt with domestic radios & TV's nothing about the studios. I recall that there was an elevated walkway around the studios so the public could look down and observe. Back to the camera, picture attached. Having examined the pictures I have it is of postwar construction using a prewar Emitron tube. At first glance it looks like the prewar cameras but when you study the detail it is clearly later construction. I wish to establish when and why it was made. Regards Brian |
