Portadyne record player intermittent.
Hi I have a Portadyne player which is causing me grief. I'm not an electrician of any sort but I can do basic things like look at the valves, take them out and replace etc. It gave me a bit of a sting after I disconnected electric.
My sound problem is intermittent it comes on then fades out, or vice versa. As I had the back of it, and replaced it, a small tap down seems to correct it for a short while, so I'm assuming it's a wiring problem rather than anything else. If anyone can help I'd also be grateful! |

Re: Portadyne record player intermittent.
This could be oxidised valve pins. The chassis in this is liable to be live. Disconnect the mains, wait a bit, carefully remove the (2 valves) without bending them, clean the pins with emery cloth/sand paper, reinsert, power up and try agan.

Re: Portadyne record player intermittent.
Many thanks Edward it does seem easy to disassemble, have had her apart once, will look at this tonight. I thought it would be dirty or dry solder but I'll give this a whirl Cheers!!
