Default Murphy A104 What band spread knob is right?

I've restored 2 of these, both have different knobs on the band spread spindle, one looks like it could be sort of right, t'other definitely is wrong.
I've looked at 4 others on eBay listings and they all look different again!
I know these get broken easily when the sets fall forward but I would like a picture or even a knob that is original so I can finish both mine correctly.
Or were there different knobs fitted by Murphy over time?

Unfortunately my A104's are 80 miles away

The correct knob has a T cross section and is very delicate not a very good picture but this one looks correct

https://collection.maas.museum/object/492845

People lay the sets on their face and that the end of the knob

Cheers

I'm puzzled Mike, the photo is not of a T shaped knob. This one seems to agree with one on eBay at present but I'm not convinced - yet.

Its a T Cross Section its a delicate little flat round knob about 5/8 inch diameter with a thin spindle about 3/8 inch long if I recall correctly.

Might be a bit bigger haven't set eyes on mine for at least 15 years.

It mostly gets replaced with a small knob without a spindle.

Cheers

My A104 has the "T" cross section knob as shown in the museum link. It's very vulnerable if the set tips forward, and I suspect many sets have non original replacements.

Would this be the correct knob then?

Looks right to me Sam. Pictures below of my A104 which I am sure has the original knobs.

Hi Sam, That is same as mine, T shaped. If set tumbles on its face its over for that knob.

If you have the set open is there any chance of sketching where the two 16uf and one 8uf 450v caps go? My set works but I am not convinced it is wired correct. What is connected to the "spare" centre tap of L19 the 1.8k choke ? I have the circuit.

Colins is exactly the same as mine I bought 4 A104's in total to get the two complete examples with the original knobs.

Cheers

Thanks guys, seems I will have to make 2 knobs then.
60 oldjohn, I,ll PM you, which sheet are you using? I have the A104R gram sheet from Murphy, same chassis.

There are small differences in the schematic between the A104 table top radio and the A104R radiogram.

The power supply smoothing choke is one item that comes to mind.

Hi Sam, I did get you P mail, Thank you for your help. Sorry for the late reply, I was going to have a look for a knob, but not too hopeful. I am using the A104 Manufactures service sheets. I think my set A104 has been wired like the A104R regarding the two 16uf & 8uf 450v capacitors. Are your sets Radios or the Radiograms?
