What have I got?
I bought this recently and wondered if anyone can positively identify it.
The front has three knobs, the left and right ones switching contacts on the coil bank. The centre moves a slug that travels inside the coil bank. The coils, which are wave round, are NOT in series but the two switches (left and right) appear to connect them, or parts of them, in various combinations. It appears to be an ATU (or part of one) but the wire on the coils is too thin to handle much power, so cant have been used for any sizeable transmitter. The construction has a military look about it, possibly RAF. There are no numbers on it. Any suggestions of ideas? |

Its the output loading section of a T1154 transmitter.

Re: What have I got?
Thanks.
I knew it was vaguely familiar, and should have remembered what it was. Just need to decide what to do with it now! |

Re: What have I got?
I made a remarkably good crystal set for LW with one of those - many years ago!

Re: What have I got?
Could be OK in series with an inverted L aerial to tune 472 kHz. I made my own variometer to do that. I use my T1154 on the band now and then, which has the very unit pictured, via 350 pf to a 50 ohm cable.
