Swap shop
Why doesn't this site have an exchange or swap section to pass on unwanted sets for something else? Is there any particular reason?

Re: Swap shop
It's Paul Stenning's decision, but the general opinion among the mods is that requests for swaps don't work, and such threads degenerate rapidly and are difficult to moderate.

Re: Swap shop
Personally I think what we have at present is more than good enough. If it is not broke dont fix it!

Re: Swap shop
We used to allow swaps in the offered and wanted sections but it didn't work. I don't think there was even a single success. The chances of two people each not wanting the item the other does at the same, and both being happy with the deal is so slim as to be impractical. Such threads invariably attracted cash offers instead which goes against the long established exact price rule and caused a lot of work for the moderators.
Do separate offered (with exact price) and wanted threads. If by chance someone can match both and contacts you then you're in luck, but if not then you are more likely to satisfy both with different people. Remember that the offered and wanted sections are for occasional transactions by members and are not a primary purpose of the forum. If your main interest is trading rather than repairing and restoring then this forum is not for you. |
