Black crackle or crinkle finish.
Hi.
I have recently acquired an AVO Test Bridge, the meter movement dates it to 10/47. This one is the second iteration using a 6B8G and no Westector. It was in pretty decent condition when I received it, and looks even better after a good clean. It appears original inside. However. The sheet metal case into which it fits has suffered paint loss in a couple of places which mars the appearance somewhat. The finish is a tight black crinkle. Q. Is it still possible to obtain paint to replicate this finish? Thanks in advance for any insight

Re: Black crackle or crinkle finish.
It's used on the dashboards of 50s/60s MG cars, and is available from Frost.

Re: Black crackle or crinkle finish.
Some of the wrinkle/ crackle finishes I have used here in the U.S. have required "curing" in the oven at 200 deg.F, others do not.
Be sure to check the paint type you buy. |
