A comprehensive radio valve guide?
Hi, being a bit of a pakrat, hoarder and general tightwad I generally keep "stuff for later" and any service manuals I get my hands on as I know how useful they are in repairing old kit.
Well, down in my cellar I have a box I have not looked in for years - it contains loads of old service guides (70's tape recorder, hifis etc - not real vintage stuff) - I'll see if I can list whats in there later. Anyway - in the box there was also a set of 5 "Bernards Radio Manuals": All . No. 100 = "A Comprehensive Radio Valve Guide" - Book 1 by W.J.May No. 121 = "A Comprehensive Radio Valve Guide" - Book 2 by B.B.Babani No. 143 = "A Comprehensive Radio Valve Guide" - Book 3 by B.B.Babani No. 157 = "A Comprehensive Radio Valve Guide" - Book 4 by B.B.Babani No. 178 = "A Comprehensive Radio Valve Guide" - Book 5 by B.B.Babani All in good condition apart from the staples have rusted away. Now I'm wondering what to do with them, my own valve book did not survive a flood & has rotted away, I cannot find these online anywhere - not even for sale so I am guessing that they are quite rare now? My main question is - are these available as PDF anywhere? I don't want to waste my time scanning them into PDF if they are. I know I'll get peanuts selling them on ebay so I'd rather PDF them for posterity, but only if they are not already done. Once that's done I can either wrap them up & re store them or pass them on. Cheers, Matt |

Re: A comprehensive radio valve guide?
Books 1,2&3 are included on the Valve Data CD Rom, along with a great deal more valve data and valve tester info, at the link at the top RH corner of this page, for £9.99. Don't know about books 4 & 5 though.

Cheers, so I don't need to bother with those then.

Re: A comprehensive radio valve guide?
Radio Bygones magazine sold reprints of some Babani valve data books, but I don't know if it was these or if they are still available.

Re: A comprehensive radio valve guide?
I think I'll scan them all in anyway, some time spent using the photocopier that emails me a pdf won't be wasted.
