Default Sony KV2022 - poor field linearity

Hello everybody,

I saved this nice set from scrap, and after resolving few minor faults there stays the last one, which I cannot solve without advice or schematic - poor vertical linearity. Could somebody kindly help me to continue?

Thanks in advance

Jan

Capacitors in the Frame Stage area.

Cheers,

Yeh! Def go for the capacitors but I do remember a similar fault on a GEC set where I changed everything but still poor linearity. So I decided to change both the MAIN and TOP LIN controls, (oh but these never go wrong!) and kowabunga a perfect picture. So you never know where the Gremlin is hiding.
Sorry I do not have the 1980/81 copy of R & TV servicing as it prevents me from doing any circuit analysis for you.

Capacitors are the most likely. It uses a discrete transistor field output stage and not that easy to identify the likely ones. It also has a Field Linearity control, RV553 and associated cap C566 - does adjusting that sort it out? Have the circuit in the old blue Sony compilation books but it is quite small and hard to follow and not sure if I could do a good scan.

Is this similar to the KV-2020 - maybe with remote control?

If so, I've got a manual somewhere, but not here... you'd have to wait a few weeks.

I have a KV-2020 and have to say that it's a superb performer and 100% reliable.

Nick.

Thanks to everybody for replies, I am going to kick out the parts suspected.
For Nick: I am not 100% sure - maybe. It has remote control. In fact, it is KV2022MR, a "dual" set for both CCIR/OIRT standards (OIRT was formerly used in Soviet enslaved countries, colour in SECAM and 6.5 MHz sound IF subcarrier).

Nice weekend for you all
