First photo: potted filters.

Normally used to filter switch clicks etc which could interfere with radio. Mains line and neutral in, ditto out and there'll be a common mode choke inside, and possibly a L-N connected capacitor or two.

The one with the extra connection will have a pair of capacitors, one from L to earth and one from N to earth.

As for the second photo, I haven't a clue.

I thought the first photo may be a trigger transformer, the sort used in xenon flash circuits.

The second photo are "video diodes" which is a particularly bad description. They fit in waveguide directional couplers for measuring forward and reverse power in microwave systems. Lord knows where they got the description from!

Probably because the word "video" often seems to be used to refer to a demodulated microwave signal, maybe because the modulation used to represent a TV picture or, more likely, radar image. I have a couple of spectrum analyzers with controls referring to "video", and in both cases it means the demodulated signal. One has a "video filter", and another has a separate "video input" which can be conveniently displayed instead of the spectrum analysis.

Those first things look like they may be opto-couplers? We used similar three-leg-one-end-two-leg-the-other transistor / diode optos in Marconi HF transmitters, but they were encapsulated in a black rectangular plastic.
