dataman mem pro
Hello I am having a problem with my Dataman Mem Pro. When I try to read a chip I get a box saying device insertion error missing device.
Anyone come across this and if so how did you sort it. I am using the updated software version 3.09. I hope my unit has not died as they are not cheap. |

Re: dataman mem pro
I get this (or the equivalent) error on my Stag programmer, especially with older chips. I pop the chip into a new socket then the error goes away.
Hope this helps. Colin. |

Re: dataman mem pro
Normally, with the Dataman units, the software says bad-contact and which pin numbers the problem is at. But it could be that if the IC's ground-pin is not connecting properly then it just thinks the IC is missing.
So try some other devices you have / cleaning the contacts of the programmer's ZIF socket (Maybe a cotton-bud with some IPA etc. cleaning fluid) / the legs of the device (Often just re-inserting a few time might work / moving the lever so that the legs are just being grippd and wiggling the IC a bit to clean the surfaces. |

Re: dataman mem pro
Thanks for your replies, I found the problem was ME, I hadn't used the programmer for a while and I was putting the chip into the top of the zif socket instead of the bottom. DOH
