Default TEAC reel to reel power cable ?

Hi All

I am pulling my hair our trying to find a supplier of the old style TEAC square 2 pin power cable. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong places but I can't find anything at all. I am desperate to listen to my A3340S reel to reel but have no power cable.

Anyone know where I can get one ?

Thanks

Can you please confirm by square you mean rectangular and that the flat pins are male (as opposed to female on a USA 117V unit).

What is the mm distance between the pins and are all 4 corners of the chassis mains connector rounded ?

A photo also would help.

Are you looking for something like this? Plug size approx 7/8in x 1/2in.

Swop it for an IEC 3 pin or a figure of 8 two pin? Not a big job. Make sure it's set to 230/240/250v.

Andy.

As said, not difficult, IIRC, the IEC fits with no mods, even the fixing holes the same.

Thanks for the advice. I took the back panels off to try to swap to socket but it seemed packed tightly behing the panel and I could not see an easy way to get the panel off. Perhaps I was doing it wrong ?

If you did decide to go down the 3 pin IEC conversion route, then this would enable you to also earth/ground the recorder chassis when a corresponding 3 wire mains lead is used, this is something I particularly like to do.

The standard 3 pin chassis IEC male plug is C13 and the corresponding/connecting 3 pin female connector is C14. The C14 with cable is commonly called "a kettle cable".

There also is a higher temperature rated version pair C15/C16.

For a figure of eight 2 pin conversion the chassis plug is IEC C7 and the cable socket is IEC C8. The figure of eight C7+C8 + cable is generally used with smaller appliances but C7/C8 rated at 2.5 Amps would be fine for the A3340S.

Thanks very much for the tips. I did take the covers off and had the panel unscrewed but could not see the socket for wires. I did try to gently pull the panel away from the case so I could get some room but there were so many wires pulling and pcbs that I decided without the exact know how of what I can move I'd end up pulling a wire off or worse and then it will need repairing. The videos etc I have seen on you tube are for the smaller TEAC models and it looks a lot less congested on the back of them. I could not find one showing it being done on the 3340S or a step by step guide

A member has very kindly offered a cable so I should be sorted for now

Perhaps one day when I am brave enough I'll have another go!
