What sort of package is it in?

Texas Instruments CP106D was a widely-used thyristor at the end of the last century.

What's it for? There are lots of bog standard 2N3904 type transistors with obscure house codes on them, and this may well be an example.

Like I said, it's a SCR/thyristor - a search for C106D shows plenty of places have the spec sheets and details of the different encapsulations/ratings.

I'd have said it's a 106D logic level thyristor too. Andy

i would say it,s was used in a logic switching circuit
i was not expect it to be a thyristor just a normal transistor

Looks like they have been superseded with a BT169G, https://mt.rsdelivers.com/product/nx...9g-08a/4469431.

If it was a Triac then Triode could be used as part of its description name.

Normally of course would think of Thermionic Valve/Vacuum Tube triodes.
