Wooton Bassett?
I haven't yet managed to get to any of the events that are organised. As I've got this TV on offer to bring back to London, I'm considering if I'm able to get up to Wooton Bassett in December (?) It would require a lot of pre-planning as I have complicated family arrangements....
What sort of event is WB, what happens, what do people do, can you buy and sell stuff there or is it for displaying sets and equipment? Any idea of the flavour of the day very much appreciated. It would be great if I could come along and put faces to some names! Cheers, Al

Re: Wooton Bassett?
Hi Al
WB consists of stallholders selling sets and parts there is usually an Auction. There is a Bring and Buy if you want to sell a couple of bits. WB is one of the friendliest BVWS meets IMHO. I usually man the Bring and Buy. Mike has ensured a good atmosphere. There are good canteen facilities. Occasionally there may be a display for enthusiasts but the main thrust of the event is acquisition disposal and social. Hope you can come. Have fun Mike T

Hi Mike,
This sounds like a great event! Do I have to join BVWS first? (not that I'd mind that!) I like the themes of acquisition and disposal -- for every disposal, there's an equal and opposite acquisition! Hope I can make it up there now!

Re: Wooton Bassett?
Hi Al
WB is a BVWS members only meeting. However you can probably get a guest ticket but I am sure you will join anyway as the Bulletin is first class and there are lots of benefits to membership. It you PM Murphymad Mike Barker our chairman I am sure he will be able to help. Enjoy! Mike T

Re: Wooton Bassett?
You can join the BVWS at the door. Since it's late in the year your sub will take you through to the end of 2012. You will also get the BVWS service data CDs (now on DVD?) and possibly other DVDs that the BVWS has produced if they are still in stock.

Re: Wooton Bassett?
Sound good. I'll probably join before though, Jeffrey. Thanks for pointing out that I get access to all that service data!
Oh, and when is it, the next one please?

Re: Wooton Bassett?
Okay, this all sounds great. What time do the doors open, as it were, and what time does it wrap up? Also what's the address please - I need to research how best to get there.
Thanks, Al

Re: Wooton Bassett?
It's all on the website - http://www.bvws.org.uk/events/locations.htm.
It ends around 4-ish, depending on how many items are in the auction and how quickly Mike gets through them. If you win anything in the auction you need to stay until the end as we won't accept payment and collection until then. If you don't want to bid for anything in the auction you will probably want to leave around 1:30 when the auction starts as stall trading largely ends then. |
